New Talent Nights: Canterbury Tales
Oct 2008
GUU, Debates Chamber
Adapted by Joe Waterfield and Ben Watson
‘The Canterbury Tales’, by Geoffrey Chaucer, follows a group of pilgrims as they make their way to Canterbury. On the way they entertain each other with storytelling. We have adapted eight of these tales for performance to a modern audience, all brilliant but all different, these yarns cover the whole spectrum of human experience. Saucy, thoughtful, compelling and amusing, this modern adaptation of the medieval classic celebrates the small victories of love and justice that make life worth living, and recognises the darker aspects of human nature that we’d rather forget. This is STaG’s second ‘New Talent Play’ and follows on from the success of ‘Under Milk Wood’ in 2007.
