Night One
Takeaway by Charlotte Smith
'Take Away' takes place in the waiting area of a small cafe in a small town, where the big personalities continually clash in hidden battles under the guises of coffee mornings and PTA meetings. We follow the Barista, Laura, through a typical busy Saturday afternoon which quickly spirals into the absurd and comically dark, as a rotating cast of yummy mummies, airheads, and a disgruntled ex keep coming to call. Laura is driven to the absolute limits of her customer service smile.
Clara: The Story of a Chemist by Niko Single-Liertz
'Clara' is a biographical play examining the life, work and legacy of the German chemist Clara Immerwahr. Immerwahr was a pacifist and feminist at the dawn of the 20th century. The play explores her relationships with friends and her marriage to renowned chemist Fritz Haber, as well as her struggles with the patriarchal scientific community.
Night Two
Goblin Market by Lily Kuenzler
Goblin Market is a devised piece of physical theatre based on Christina Rosetti's poem. This is a simple story of sisterly love and sexual awakening. The poem itself is vivid and extremely pictoral; its erotic and violent language lends itself seamlessly to intense physical theatre.
The Hooded Phantom by Annie Saxberg
In the golden age of radio, listeners were glued to their sets to hear the thrilling tales of private detective Jack Candew and his heroic pals in adventure series 'The Search For the Hooded Phantom'. Each episode is filmed in front of a live studio audience, giving them an exclusive inside look at the making of radio magic, the talented voice acting, the sounds of the foley artist, and even what goes on during the advertisement breaks.
Night Three
Heroes by Rebecca Russell
Four years ago, a group of super-powered vigilantes saved their city from destruction at the hands of a super-villain. The group then disbanded and they attempted to adjust to normal life. Now they've received a message- apparently from their old leader- telling them to reassemble for one more mission. But our heroes are much more interested in arguing with each other.
Ah Dinnae Ken by Maddie Beautyman
Scotland, the not-so-distant future. A second Independence Referendum has been called and very soon your parents will ask you to murder your neighbours. The old story of war between two families and the star-crossed lovers caught between them. They lay their love, their name and the hope of a nation on the line. There truly never was a tale of more woe, Than that of the vote between Yes and No.
