A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire like you have never seen it before, STaG’s Streetcar transports the classic American text from the ‘Deep South’ to the ‘Big Apple’ in an exploration of the lives of the LGBT community during the early 80s.
A Streetcar Named Desire is a classic example of American drama which charts the violent clash of backgrounds between Blanche Dubois and her brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski. Following Blanche’s unexpected arrival at her sister’s apartment, her presence interrupts and ultimately changes the lives of her sister, Stella, and those around her forever. Based on Tennessee’s own experiences as he watched his sister’s mental health deteriorate, the play is one of ‘great sadness’, full of dramatic potential and intensity.
Blanche, Stella and Stanley are given a ‘queer’ makeover in our take but the production will contain all of the brutality and the fragility that is come to be expected of Williams’ work.
